419,861. Locks. ALKAR SCHLOSSSICHERUNGEN GES., 21, Harkortstrasse, Leipsic, Germany. April 13, 1934, No. 11158. Convention date, April 15, 1933. [Class 44.] A device for preventing unauthorized use of cycles and motor vehicles consists of a pivoted member 13 having a radial arm 24 which engages between adjacent spokes of a wheel and is retained by key-operated locking means incorporated in a hollow pivot pin 5 to which the member 13 is fixed. For a motor-cycle, the member 13 may carry another arm which engages with a projecting arm on the usual back stand to hold it in operative position. The arm 24 is normally pressed to its disengaged position by a torsion spring 34. Within the hollow pivot pin or lock barrel 5 are mounted disc tumbers 7 each having a central circular hole 9 into which projects a lug 10 adapted to co-operate with an irregular groove 11 in the key 8, so that insertion of the key rotates the tumblers to bring notches 19 in their peripheries into alignment to receive a cylindrical rod 20 and thus to free the barrel or pivot pin. The key is positioned by a projection 17 engaging a groove 18 in the barrel-closing disc 12, and is provided with a collar 16 to prevent entry of dust. The barrel is retained in its casing 1 by a screw 4 co-operating with a groove 6. The casing 1 is attached to a frame member 27 by a clamp consisting of a strap 26 moved towards a part 25 of the casing by screws 30, recesses 29 being provided to allow for different sized frame members.
