[Class 142 (iii).] The pirn or cop carrier, for a shuttle for looms with automatic weft supply, is held in the weft aperture 2, Fig. 2, of the shuttle by a band-shaped holding member 6 extending along at least one longitudinal side and the two ends of the aperture. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the cop 4 is secured in a carrier 3 having rings at its ends for engaging notches 12 in the band at one end, and grooves 13 at the other. The band is secured by pins 11, and is cut away at 7 forming spring tongues 8, 9. In modifications, two cut-out tongues are formed in each end of the band which may be formed as a completely closed holding spring, or two cut-out notched springs may be formed in the holding spring for engaging rings formed centrally on the pirn carrier. In the form shown in Fig. 10, the cop carrier 3 is engaged by notched and longitudinally-grooved U-shaped springs 25, 26 passing through apertures in a complete band 22. In the form shown in Fig. 12, a cop-carrier 29, 30 is held in notched springs 28 cut out of a continuous spring band 27 slotted at one end to allow weft to pass to the threading-device 32.
