Abstract

418,890. Gramophones. VORWERCK, W., 6, Elisabethstrasse, Kothen-Anhalt, Germany. March 10, 1934, No. 7634. [Class 40 (ii).] A mechanism for giving constant tracking- speed comprises a lever 4 linked at 3 to a collar 2 on the tone-arm 1, and slotted at 5 so as to be guided by a fixed pin 6, during movement of the tone-arm. The free end 17 of the lever 4 engages a fixed but adjustable cam 18, whereby a predetermined angular movement of the lever about the pin 6 is effected, this angular movement being utilized to actuate a tappet 8 guided in a fixed slot 9 to control a brake-pad on the governor gear. A spring 7 fixed at one end and attached to the lever 4 at the other end, applies a varying moment about the pin 6 to relieve side pressure of the needle on the record grooves, occasioned by the reactions of the cam. The constant tracking-speed mechanism may be rendered inoperative by a cranked lever 12, pivoted at 11 and linked at 13 to the plate 14 carrying the cam 18, movement of this lever in a clockwise direction causing the cam 18 to be withdrawn from the lever 4, and causing a cam at the end of the part 10 of the lever 12 to position the tappet 8 to give the required constant speed of revolution of the turntable.
