Abstract

417,975. Cutting vegetables &c. ETCHELLS, T., 119, Finsbury Pavement, London, and WEST, F. J., Clovelly, Lady Lane, Shirley, Warwickshire. Dec. 8, 1933, No. 34633. [Class 5 (i).] A device for slicing or chipping vegetables, fruit and the like comprises a support 1 having raised projections 4 corresponding with the interstices between cutters 17, 19 rigidly carried between the arms of a lever 11 pivoted at 14 and carrying an operating handle 16. The pivot 14 is displaced vertically and horizontally from the support 1. The knives 17 are carried by wires 13 and spaced by sleeves 18, the knives 19 being carried by the knives 17. When the device is required for slicing the knives 19 are omitted. The support 1 comprises a rib 20 to prevent contact of the knives with the bottoms of the grooves between the projections 4. The two-armed lever 11 shown may be replaced by a U-shaped lever, the base of the U serving as a handle : also, the lever 11 may be straight at the handle end instead of curved as shown.
