Abstract
417,969. Vehicle stands. PITMAN, E., The Cottage, Dyrham, near Chippenham, Wiltshire. Oct. 4, 1933, No. 27332. [Class 79 (iii).] A raised vehicle stand or platform A and ramp approach B, C, are formed of separable sections each comprising a pair of channel girders or like wheel track members 1, 2, on upright supports braced, in the case of the platform A, by means of cross members 12, 13 pivotally connected to one another at 14 and formed with a series of bolt holes providing for attachment to the uprights at various distances apart. The track members are welded or bolted &c. to angle bar uprights 20, 3, 3<1>, angle plates 4 being employed and bracing bars 8, 9. The ramp approach comprises a pair of channel girders 17 with splayed entrances at the ground end and adjustably connected by a crossbar. The approach may comprise a ramp section B terminating at the support uprights 20, with separable bridging girders C or the ramp may extend to the platform, being preferably of humped or convex form to lessen the angularity of the junction therewith. The bridge sections C are located by pins 28 thereon entering holes in angle plates 7 welded to the uprights. The approach channel girders may be stiffened by outward flanges 18.
