Abstract

417,753. Recording sound. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankforton-Main, Germany. Jan. 29, 1934, No. 2967. Convention date, Jan. 28, 1933. [Class 40 (ii).] Sound is recorded by means of a source of light modulated in accordance with the sounds to be recorded on a film having means for preventing or minimising halation, and the film is developed according to the reversal method. The halation effects produced by diffusion may be reduced by using a lightsensitive material provided with a particularly fine-grained silver halide emulsion layer, or with a silver halide emulsion layer which contains a filter dye, or with both such layers. Dyes which are simultaneously sensitizers may be employed with the silver halide emulsion. The halation effects caused by reflection may also be prevented by means of an anti-halation layer arranged as a backing layer or as an intermediate layer between the emulsion layer and the support, and such a layer may consist of finely sub-divided glassmaker's soap, colloidal silver, or a suitable red dye which is soluble in the photographic treating baths. The antihalation layer may be applied on the lightsensitive layer when the latter is to be exposed through the support.
