April 21, 1933, No. 11741. [Class 83 (ii).] A combined sleeper and chair is formed from a member 1 of channel cross-section and upstanding chair jaws 5 by increasing the thickness of portions 2 of the channel member and electrically butt welding the jaws thereto. The ribs 2 may be form@ by locally heating the sleeper 1 and applying end pressure, or by electrically welding strips of metal across the sleeper. The portion 6 of the sleeper between the ribs 2 may be thickened and shaped to fit the base of the rail.
