417,225. Lifting-jacks. AUBRY, C., 53, Rue de Chateaudun, Bonneval, Eure-et- Loire, France. Feb. 9, 1934, No. 4411. Convention date, May 8, 1933. [Class 78 (iii).] A portable and dismountable lifting device for facilitating the placing in position of vehicle wheels comprises a horizontal base member provided with a guide, a lifting unit slidable in said guide, and a pivoted fork suspended from the vertically moving part of the lifting unit and provided with horizontal load-supporting rods. A crescent-shaped base member a has a guide b for the base of the lifting-jack g and is hinged at e so as to fold up for storage. The jack g comprises a rack i<1> operated by a pedal h and carries a hook i from which a plate j is suspended. The plate j is bent at its lower end k into U-shape and has two arms n pivotally mounted at m to rest in the U. The arms n have horizontal rods q which engage under the wheel to lift it. Since the plate is suspended the wheel can be swung sideways to position it. After use the fork portion is removed and the arms n folded together.
