Abstract

416,701. Wheel tyres. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, London, HARDEMAN, W. E., and DAW, R. F., Fort Dunlop, Birmingham. July 15, 1933, Nos. 20065 and 24029. [Class 144 (i).] A device for indicating tyredeflation comprises a flexible inextensiblemember in a resilient casing which is supported from a spring or like part of the vehicle and fitted with means adapted to engage the road when the wheel drops, the pull on the flexible member being utilized to close an electrical signalling - circuit. As shown, an inextensible cable 22 is secured at its lower end to a plug 21 in a bracket 13 which is fitted with an adjustable bolt &c. 15 normally clear of the road surface. The upper end of the cable is connected to a washer 34 carrying a spring 30 which is normally clear of spaced terminals 31 in the signalling-circuit 32. The cable passes through a casing 25 surrounded by a rubber sleeve 27 around which a closely-coiled helical spring 12 is fitted, the ends of the spring being secured to the plug 21 and a box 7 carried by the attachment-bracket 1. In operation, distortion of the spring 12 (due to the drag of the bolt 15 on the road) exerts a pull on the upper end of the cable 22 causing the spring 30 to bridge the terminals 31 and actuate a visible or audible signal.
