Abstract

416,551. Combined sound-recording and kinematograph apparatus. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankforton-Main, Germany. Jan. 19, 1934, No. 1954. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1933. [Class 40 (ii).] A kinematographic apparatus comprises a camera, and detachably connected thereto a casing containing apparatus for mechanically or optically recording sound. The camera 1 has an aperture 7 in its base through which the film 8 may pass from the camera into the soundrecording casing 2 which is detachably connected to the camera by brackets 15. The casing 2 is provided with a front wall, hinged at 16, all connections being rendered light-tight. The casing 2 houses a motor 3 for driving the feed drum 5, this motor also driving the shutter mechanism of the camera, by means of a flexible shaft 9 or other transmission. The feed drum may be provided with a flywheel. According to a modification, the feed drum 5, Fig. 4, may be housed in an extension 18 of the sound casing so as to project within the camera, and the light from the optical apparatus 4 may be reflected on to the film by a mirror 22.
