Abstract
416,272. Preventing dimming of windscreens. NIER, E. R., NIER, E. E., NIER, E., and EHMER, J. M., (trading as NIER & EHMER, METALLWARENFABRIK), Beierfeld, Saxony, Germany. March 5, 1934, Nos. 7014 and 7015. Convention dates, Nov. 1, 1933 and Jan. 11, 1934. [Class 20 (iii).] Electrically - heated wires for preventing condensation on windscreens of vehicles are carried by a glazed frame 2 of artificial resin secured to the screen by suction cups 9, one or more heating circuits giving the required heating effect are adapted to be switched in by rotary contacts 19, 20, 21 of which 19, 20, and the fixed metal terminals 23, 24 connect all the wires 13, 10, in parallel and 21 connects only the lower wire 13 (Fig. 2 being an inverted rear view), the return being effected through a metal rim 5 secured to the frame and connected to the lead 25 at 12. A warning light 29 in parallel with the circuit 13 indicates when the heating circuit is closed. An interposed rubber strip secured beneath the rim 5 beds against the screen and retains the panel 3 against the flange 4 on the frame, Fig. 3. The warning lamp is screwed in a metal socket 28, Fig. 8, electrically connected at 35 to the switch contact 24, and the central pole is connected at 33 to the lead 25, Fig. 2. A spring 38 is interposed between the sleeve 28 and a sleeve 39 securing the window 40 which may be of red glass. The frame may be made with a curve and strained against the screen to ensure sealing along the edges.
