Abstract

415,998. Book covers. HAROU, M. C. O., 7, Avenue de Camoens, and VALLEE, R. P. A., 1, Rue de Medicis, both in Paris. Dec. 2, 1932, No. 34173. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 13, 1933]. [Class 16.] A cover for books &c. is formed of two or more flexible members such as paper, thin cardboard, or textile fabric united by a bonding material which at ordinary temperatures retains its adhesive properties and is permanently a semi-liquid or paste, such as mucilage, vegetable glue, resinous glutinous materials, gum arabic rendered plastic, pitch, or petroleum tar. In the example shown, a sheet of cardboard, or a sheet formed of several thicknesses of paper united by a flexible paste, is cut into three members C<1>, C2, C<3>, and a member T of woven or other fabric is attached thereto by means of the plastic bonding material L. The edges t of the member T may be turned over to embrace the top members. If desired, two sheets of paper may be used, or a sheet of paper and a sheet of flexible cardboard. The member T may be covered with a decorated paper sheet secured thereto by an adhesive which is soft or plastic at atmospheric temperatures. The product is a cover which is quite flexible and strongly resistant to tearing. The book or the set of pages is enclosed and secured by means of stitching &c., but preferably by using a flexible adhesive.
