Abstract

415,842. Doffing -arrangements for spinning and like frames. FRASER, G., FRASER, N., and FRASER, J., Westburn Foundry, Arbroath, Angus. April 11, 1933, No. 10770. [Class 120 (ii).] In a self-doffing spinning and like frame employing a stripper for removing the full bobbins when the spindle rail is lowered and a swing carrier for the empty bobbins, the empty bobbins 4 are carried by a rack or holder 5 which is pivotally mounted on a lever arm 6 and is connected with a link anchored to a pivot 11 adjacent to the pivot 7 of the arm 6 so that, when the arm 6 is moved to the position shown in dotted lines the empty bobbins are aligned with the spindles 2 and are impaled thereon when the spindle rail is raised to the spinning-position. The spindle rail and the lever 6 may be independently operated by hand gear, or the lever may be operated to and fro as required by an adjustable striker moving with the spindle rail. The full bobbins are doffed and fall into a trough 12 or on to a conveyer when the spindle rail is lowered out of traverse by means of a stripper plate 17 carried by a lever 18 operated so that, when the spindle rail has been raised slightly to the position x after the initial lowering from traverse to provide a length of slack yarn y, the plate is advanced to support the bobbins and to strip them upon further lowering of the spindle rail. The Provisional Specification comprises also a stripper plate which moves with the spindle rail during normal traverse, but is arrested when the rail is lowered beyond the traverse, and for tipping the bobbins rearwardly of the frame bars, hinged to vertically sliding rods and moved relatively to the spindle rail.
