414,866. Indicating liquid levels. CRACKNELL, W. O., The White Hart Cottage, Hook, Hampshire. May 20, 1933, No. 14612. [Class 123 (i).] The presence of water in an oil container is indicated by a dipping rod coated with a mixture of chalk and a water-absorbing, non- freezing substance, viz., glycerine. A binder such as a solution of rosin in turpentine, and a colouring material such as methylene blue may be added. The dividing level between water and oil is indicated by a difference in the colour of the part of the rod immersed in water. Water in suspension is indicated by spots of a different colour on the rod. The Provisional Specification refers to a composition consisting of chalk, glucose, glycerine, turpentine and methylene blue. Specification 320,581, [Class 123 (i)], is referred to.
