Abstract
414,447. Gas meters. ALEXANDER, W., and PINCHBECK, Ltd., Adams Place, Georges Road, Holloway, London. Feb. 28, 1933, Nos. 6085 and 13500. [Class 54.] In a dry gas meter the valves 31 slide over gas ports formed by parallel rectangular slots 11, 12, 13, in a rectangular grating 10 which is cast on to a similarly slotted sheet metal valve plate 14 adjacent the gas outlet pipe 21. The gas outlet passage 20 is formed by an inclined tinned plate 15 having vertical side portions 18, the upper horizontal edges being embedded in the cast grating. The grating is formed with inclined conduits 25 leading from the gas ports 13 through the passage 20 into the inner measuring chambers. The ports 11 open directly into the outer measuring chambers. The slide valves 31 may be operated by bellcrank levers 34, 35 which are pivoted on the valve plate and are connected by links 36 to a crank on a vertical crank-rod 29. The crank-rod 29 is journalled on in a lug 30 on the grating 10 and is rotated by the flag-rods 27. The valves may be cast with two apertured posts to engage a fixed guide rod or, as shown in Fig. 2, each valve may be formed with a socket 40 carrying a rod 41 engaging an apertured post 42 in the other valve.
