Abstract

Cellulose derivative compositions of reduced inflammability are obtained by adding to the solution oleic acid, stearic acid, or mixtures of these, in amounts up to 10 per cent of the weight of the cellulose derivative, and also adding a plasticizer such as camphor or triphenyl phosphate. The cellulose derivative may be a nitrate or acetate. The compositions may be employed for making films and for other purposes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 181,393, 181,394, [both in Class 2 (ii)], and 348,625, and to "The Nitro-Cellulose Industry," by E. C. Worden (1911, Constable & Co., Ltd.), page 734, lines 27--31.
