413,943. Drawing-instruments. BADE, (nÚe NIETHAMMER), A., Oppendorfer Forsthaus, Schoenkirchan, Holstein, Germany. Dec. 4, 1933, No. 33988. Convention date, Jan. 13. [Class 97 (iii).] An instrument for drawing, hatching, measuring angles or for use with navigational charts has two pairs of rollers adapted to run in directions at right angles, one pair of rollers being lifted from the drawing surface when the other pair is depressed, and vice versa, and all or part of the remaining parts of the instrument being raised from the drawing surface upon depression of a pair of rollers. In the form shown, a flexible rule 1 which may have a leg 15 is attached to the bridge of a semicircular protractor 2. A plate 5 for carrying the rollers is slid over eye brackets 4, 4, on the bridge by means of corresponding oblong slots and is pivotally attached thereto by eye brackets 6, 6 and bolts 7, a space being left between the protractor and plate 5 so that the latter may see-saw about the bolts 7. The plate 5 carries a pair of rollers 9, 9 with their axle 11 mounted in bearing brackets 10 and a pair of rollers 12, 12 adapted to run in a direction at right angles to the rollers 9, 9, and each mounted on a journal 16 supported by a bearing bracket 13. A handle 8 is provided on the plate 5, so that the latter may be tilted to bring either pair of rollers into contact with the chart and simultaneously to raise the instrument from the drawing surface. The protractor 2 may be so connected to the rule 1 as to be capable of angular adjustment.
