Abstract
413,362. Discharge apparatus. CHAPMAN, A. E., 125, Stanley Park Road, Carshalton, Surrey, and GREETHAM, E., 32, Lansdowne Crescent, Notting Hill, London. Dec. 20, 1933, No. 36294/32. [Class 39 (i).] In a plug-and-socket mounting for tubular electric incandescent lamps or discharge tubes, each of two contact caps or plugs projecting laterally from the lamp is received in a holder consisting of an open box or case a of insulating material provided with a flat contact spring b at its bottom and containing two oppositely arranged lateral springs c between which the contact cap is held in position, recesses being provided in the cap to engage the ends c<1> of the lateral springs. As shown, the lateral springs c are formed by the two limbs of a U-shaped spring which pass through slots a<1> in the bottom of the holder a, and are kept in position by securing them to a support e through the intermediary of an insulating-block f and screw g. Electrical connection may be provided between the springs b, c. After the lamp is mounted in the holders the contact caps may be clamped by inserting the limbs of a U-shaped member h through holes in the transverse sides of the box a, into contact with the recessed ends c<1> of the springs c, the free ends h<1> of the member h being bent inwardly to secure it in position. Preferably the member h consists of an insulated metal rod.
