Abstract
412,746. Amusement apparatus. OPENSHAW, C., Stanley Ironworks, Mason Street, Reading. May 11, 1933, No. 13732. [Class 132 (i).] In apparatus of the kind in which a supporting structure is swingably suspended from a framework, pivoted rigid suspension members carry a supporting structure at one end only and are merely counterbalanced at the opposite end so that the structure may at the will of an occupant or occupants be made to perform one or more complete revolutions. As shown, a cage 1 is provided at its eight corners with universal joints 2 from each of which extends a supporting member pivoted on trunnions at 4 to a vertical upright 5 of the framework. Each supporting member comprises a suspension arm 3 and an extension arm 6, which may be provided with a counterweight 7. The counterweights 7 may be hollow and partially filled with ballast. In a modification, the cage may be supported on each side from the framework by three supporting members instead of four.
