Abstract

412,499. Rotary conical valves for road-dressing spray-producers. WEEKS & SON, Ltd., W., Perseverance Iron Works, and PEARCH, L. C., 96, Salisbury Road, both in Maidstone, Kent. Dec. 19, 1933, No. 35678. [Classes 69 (iii) and 135.] In machines for applying tar, bitumen, or other road dressings, a series of rotary conical valves 1, 2 carrying the distributernozzles 12 is mounted closely adjacent the distributing-manifold 8, thus avoiding long passages between the distributer and the ports 13 in the rotary cocks 2. The ports 13 are arranged substantially tangentially in the cocks 2 to create spin of the dressing-material in the valve and cause an emission of spray. Valveoperating levers 3 are integral with covers 3<1>, which are maintained in position by spring- pressed plungers 6 carried in levers 4 which are maintained in operative position by clips 5 pivoted on the valve casing 1 so that fluid-tight contact between the parts 3<1>, 2, and 1 is maintained. For cleaning, the covers 31 are removed. Pawls 10 pivoted on the levers 3 engage slots in a common slidable operating-rod 11, so that the valves may be operated simultaneously or in any desired plural or individual arrangement.
