Abstract
411,890. Open fireplaces. THIIS, A. G., 44, Liscard Road, Wallasey, Cheshire. Dec. 9, 1932, No. 34910. [Class 126.] Air from an outside source, e.g. the outside atmosphere or the ventilation space beneath the floor, is led to the interior of a hollow tile or block A, from which it is supplied to the flue of an open fireplace through a number of holes a' in the front of the tile or block, the holes extending obliquely upwards through the front wall of the tile or block. The flow of air is regulated by a hit and miss regulator G, G<1>, actuated by means of the handle g<2>, or by louvres or other means. The block A may be mounted in the hearth with the part a<3> facing the fire, or incorporated in a hearth curb formed of a series of tiles or blocks, which are mounted on a bar or rod which may act as a support for the air control means. The upper edge of the opening leading from the outside source may have a rubber or like framework to form an airtight joint with the block. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 8483/86 and 28089/10, [both in Class 126].
