Abstract

410,751. Face or eye shields. JARVIS, M. H., Elthorne, Nightingale Road, Wendover, Buckinghamshire. Nov. 19, 1932, No. 32771. [Class 97 (i).] A face or eye shield comprises two transparent side members 11, Fig. 1, connected together by a fixed front transparent portion 12 and a peak 13, the members 11 having flanged edges 16 to guide a movable transparent member 18, a resilient pad 17 being secured to the fixed portion 12, and a wiper 21 extending across in front of the member 18 so that as the latter is moved it is wiped at both its front and rear surfaces. The peak 13 is provided with a flange 25 to which is secured an adjustable head band 27. In a modification, Fig. 2, the peak is dispensed with, and the side members 11 are connected to, or formed integrally with, a cross member 28 which together with the members 11, carries fastening members 29 for engagement with complementary members secured to the front and sides of an ordinarv cap or other headgear. In a further modification, the movable member 18 may carry a catch or the like for co-operation with the lower edge of the front member 12 to retain the member 18 in the open position, and the latter may be spring influenced so that it moves rapidly, on release of the catch, into its closing position.
