Abstract
410,685. Heating feedwater. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV-UND MASCHINENFABRIK, Winterthur, Switzerland. Nov. 1, 1933, No. 30325. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1932. [Class 64 (i).] In a high pressure feedwater heater for locomotives in which the preheating elements e are inserted in the smoke tubes d of a low pressure feedwater heater A and have a lower cold water header a and an upper hot water header b, and in which the elements e situated iri a common vertical plane are combined in two groups p, q which are connected parallel with each other and parallel with the planes of adjacent groups, the connecting pipes o<1> of the lower element groups q to the lower cold water header a and the connecting pipes o of the upper element groups p to the upper hot water header b are situated in the same vertical plane as the respective element groups. The connecting pipes t of the upper element groups p to the lower cold water header a and the pipes t<1> connecting the lower element group q to the upper header b are situated in planes extending between the element group planes. Each element e has several pipe lengths connected in series so that water flows through them consecutively from below upwards. Thus six pipe lengths may be arranged one centrally and five spaced around in pentagonal form.
