Abstract
409,800. Washers. LYSAGHT PROTECTED STEEL CO., Ltd., and KEAY, H. W., St. Vincent's Iron Works, Bristol. Nov. 21, 1932, No. 32815. [Class 89 (i).] Metal roofing and like sheets 1, of the kind having a protective coating a of rubber compound, are provided with means to protect the exposed metal at places where the sheet is perforated for securing purposes, such means consisting of a member 3 adapted to be applied beneath the perforation and having a recessed face 3b for receiving a metal protective substance 4 in which the exposed marginal edge of the metal at the perforation is adapted to be embedded. The protective substance comprises a rubber compound capable of vulcanizing at moderate temperatures. A recess 3b is provided at each end in order to render the member 3 reversible, and each end of the member is formed with an angular face 3<c> and flat face 3d to permit of a proper seating of the member on a corrugated part of the sheet 1 and on the purlin 2. A galvanized washer 6 and a washer 7 of rubber compound are associated with the screw 5.
