Abstract

409,642. Sewing- machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Singer Manufacturing Co. ; Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Jan. 24, 1934, No. 2448. [Class 112.] An attachment for the presser bar to adapt a machine for embroidery comprises a needle-strip. per which is pressed away from the work by a spring to permit the work to be moved easily. The bracket 17 is attached to the presser bar by a screw 19. This bracket carries the member 23 which slides between the guides 21, 22. The member 23 carries the needle-stripper foot 24 which is pressed upwards by the spring 27 till the shoulder 26 engages the lower part of the guide 22. If the needle bar is accidentally depressed while the presser bar is lifted, the needle clamp can depress the foot 24 against the spring 27 without breakage. The feed dogs are either lowered to inoperative position or covered by a plate 5 during the use of the attachment.
