Abstract
409,586. Blotting-appliances. BURGE, W. S., Rogerthorpe, Pembroke Road, Moor Park, Northwood, Middlesex. Oct. 11, 1933, No. 28078. [Class 146 (iii).] In a blotter of the roller type having a blotting- roll formed from a sheet which is divided into sections by transverse lines of perforations, slits, or other indentations, the carrier handle is counterbalanced to hold the handle erect when at rest. The blotting-material may be in the form of a roll 1 having an internally projecting tongue which is adapted to engage in a slot provided in the wall of the spool 2 when the roll is slid thereon, the spool being supported between the walls 3 of the handle 5 by screws 4, or by spring-loaded pins or the like. The walls 3 carry the counterweights 6 for the handle, which may bear advertisements. The strip of blotting-paper is divided into sections by three lines of perforations or indentations, and a thin paper backing similarly sectioned is provided, which is continuous throughout the length of the blotting-sheet, to the back of which it is gummed. The backing is also gummed to the front surface of the blotting- sheet section immediately below it between the first two lines of perforations &c. and the part of the blotting-paper between the second and third lines constitutes a tear-off strip. The tear-off strip may be left with a free end, or one or both ends may be cut V-shaped.
