408,717. Spring balances. SALTER & CO., Ltd., G., and BACHE, E. W., 144, High Street, West Bromwich, Staffordshire. Nov. 2, 1932, No. 30819. [Class 143.] The scale pan support or weighing platform is provided with a depending part which is guided vertically relatively to a stationary support or stand by rollers, or pins on one part engaging slots or grooves on the other part. The platform 3 is secured by a connecting piece 11 to the box-shaped depending part 4, the open front part of which faces the rear of the plate 2. Side flanges 8, and supporting feet 6, 7 are formed integral with the plate 2 by bending. In the construction shown, the part 4 is guided vertically by : (1) two pairs of rollers 16, 17 mounted on pins carried by bent out lugs integral with the plate 2, the rollers engaging slots 14, 15 in the part 4 and (2) a pair of rollers 19, 20, carried by the plate 2 and engaging slots 10, 21 in the back of the part 4. The moving parts are supported by a helical spring 5 anchored to the plate 2 by a bell-crank lever 25 with a zero adjusting screw 28. The pointer 30 is actuated by a toothed rack and pinion. A sheet metal cover 34 may be sprung on from the rear.
