[Class 44.] An electric switch is actuated to lock the doors, windows and roof of a vehicle upon manipulation of a part connected with the gearchanging or brake mechanism. Fig. 11 shows an electrically controlled lock for use with the switch. The bolt 49 is normally held back by the abutment of a stop 51 on the bolt against a lever 57 pivoted at 53 and pressed against the bolt by a spring 54. On energizing an electromagnet 55, a plate 64 on the lever is attracted and the bolt 49 freed to be shot out by a spring 50. A key or like operated arm 58 is turned to force the bolt back and release the door &c. A locked or concealed master switch may be provided to put the device out of action. Specifications 164,891, [Class 79 (iii)], and 405,713, [Group XXXVIII], are referred to, and the invention may be used in conjunction with the devices set forth in Specification 405,713.
