[Class 23.] A multi-stage emulsifier of the centrifugal type has two or more impeller wheels c, the blades of which are made of metal frames covered with wire gauze and anchored in grooves in the plates of the impeller wheels. The partitions l between the stages have nozzles d, and a ring e with slots is placed in the inlet funnel o to divide the flowing material into several intersecting streams. Fluids can be supplied to the materials during mixing by the hollow shaft p, the openings h and the slots or nozzles r. The blades may be of zig-zag form. By using a pumping impeller in the series a low pressure space can be formed in the part m<1> so that additional material can be introduced through the cocks i.
