Abstract
408,363. Stud and socket fasteners. SUPPLIE, A., 7, Harkortstrasse, Wetter-on- Ruhr, Germany. Nov. 3, 1932, No. 30984. [Class 44.] A press fastener, particularly for securing vehicle hoods, tent flaps, or the like, has one member h in the form of an eyelet while the second member b is a cylindrical or other casing with a number of balls d projecting partially from the interior. A resilient support e, Fig. 2, holds the balls in position. In a modification, a spring n, Fig. 6, supports a tube l of resilient material to hold the balls. In a further modification shown in Fig. 7, the balls are normally held in place by a tube v and they are forced outwards to their extended position by the upward movement of the sleeve o. This sleeve is mounted on a back plate p with cam faces r engaging ramps t on the base of the fastener casing. When the eyelet h is in position, a key is inserted through the tube v into a socket in the sleeve o and the rotation of this raises the sleeve on the ramps and forces the balls outwards. A number of fasteners may be included in one casing.
