Abstract

408,123. Moulds for ceramic tubes. PORZELLANFABRIK KAHLA, Kahla, Th³ringia, Germany. Nov. 28, 1932, No. 20274/33. Convention date, Nov. 28, 1931. Divided on 397,349, [Group XXXVI]. [Class 87 (ii).] Ceramic liquid resistances in the form of a helically wound tube are made in moulds comprising complementary grooved internal and external parts 17, 12 of absorptive material between which parts slip is run, and drawn off through an aperture 23 after material has been deposited to the required thickness. The internal part 17 of the mould is made in sections such as 15, 16, 17<1>, 18, Fig. 2, and the outer part is made in halves to allow the moulded article to be disengaged from the mould. The grooves 13 to produce the helix are separated by parts 14 which form walls connecting the coils of the helix. An inlet 20 for the slip is provided, and an outlet 21 communicating with the aperture 23 in the supporting base 22. The aperture 23 is plugged at 24 till the excess slip is to be drawn off. Socket portions such as 20, 21 may also be formed at intermediate zones of the helical tube. Internal and external coatings may be cast on the pipe casting.
