Abstract
407,584. Containers for self-lighting cigarettes &c. FOX, A. H., Pleasantville, New Jersey, U.S.A. June 24, 1933, No. 18105. [Class 18.] A container for self-lighting cigarettes, cigars, &c., comprises a shell 1, Fig. 1, and a drawer 2, Fig. 2, containing two cigarette &c. compartments 3, 4, defined by side walls 5, 6 and 7, 8 and free end flaps 9, 10, slightly less in width than the cigarettes, the compartments being connected by a resilient V-shaped junction 11, and compartment 4 carrying a lid 12. Stops 15 are preferably provided on the shell to contact the top end of walls 9, 10 to limit the withdrawal of the drawer. Corrugated liners 5<a>, 6<a>, 7<a>, 8<a> are secured to the walls and carry striking surfaces 13. The sides of the drawer are pressed together by the resilient strip 11 so that when a cigarette carrying an igniting band is withdrawn ignition is ensured. The outer walls 6, 8, lie wholly within the end walls 9, 10, to permit of the approach to each other of the side walls of the compartments this movement being limited by the contact of the corrugated liners 5<a>, 6<a>. In a modified form a resilient fold similar to that shown at 11 is provided in the wall 8 and at the edge of wall 6 which coact with the outer shell 1 to produce resilient pressure on the cigarettes &c.
