Abstract
407,104. Recording and reproducing sound. NUBLAT, R. L. A., 4, Rue Belloni, Paris. Sept. 26, 1932, No. 26680. Convention date, May 19. [Class 40 (ii).] Sound records are cut in a thin film by an electromagnetic recording tool which severs the film longitudinally. As shown, the film passes from a reel 4 and over an adjustable support 5 where it is cut by the recording tool 5. If the strip is of opaque material the parts of the severed strip are separated and one cut edge is traversed past an optical sound reproducing device comprising a light source 13 and photo-electric cell 12, and is finally wound up on a reel 4<1>. If a transparent celluloid film is used, a film for reproduction is made therefrom by using one part of the cut film as a stencil covering a part of a further film and colouring matter is sprayed over to cover the exposed part of the further film. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes the apparatus as provided with guide rolls round which the film is traversed in passing from one reel to the other so that colouring matter sprayed thereon is dried by air passing through gratings constituting the sides of the apparatus. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
