[Class 5 (ii).] An apparatus for incubating and hatching eggs comprises a casing including an incubating chamber, Fig. 2, and a hatching chamber, Fig. 9 ; the incubating chamber comprises a tiltable drum 9 carrying a plurality of trays 12, formed by frames having spaced transverse bars 13 disposed thereon, for containing the eggs to be incubated ; the hatching chamber comprises a plurality of baskets 25 for receiving the trays 12 transferred thereto after a lapse of time from the incubating chamber ; and both chambers comprise ventilating fans 4, 5, 30. Both chambers comprise perforated floors 17 and perforated roofs 19, the perforations in the latter being opened or closed by slides 18. All the fans may be driven by the same motor and the blades of the fans 4, 5, may be angularly adjustable. Water pans 2 in which porous bodies 2<1> may be placed and heating coils 31 are provided, the latter comprising water or steam coils or containing electric heaters. The drum 9 is mounted on a horizontal shaft and is tiltable by a handle 6. The trays 12 are carried on ledges 11, having abutments at their rear ends, and are secured in position by rods 14 hinged at 14<1> to one series of ledges and engaging slots in projections on the trays and slots in the opposing ledges. The upper edges of the tray bars 13 are bevelled. The hatching baskets 25 comprise mesh bodies, mesh covers and supports for the trays 12.
