[Class 122 (i).] The steel gudgeon pin c of a light-metal piston a is rigidly mounted in one boss, but fits loosely in a bush b in the other boss. The bush b may have a coefficient of expansion less than that of the pin, in which case it is inserted in the boss under compression so that a tight fit is obtained even when the boss expands. Alternatively, the bush b has a coefficient of expansion midway between that of the piston and of the pin, and is then fitted loosely in the boss.
