Abstract

406,226. Pressure gauges. SANDISON, A. G. S., Kelda, Baltasound, Shetland. Sept. 25, 1933, No. 26333. [Class 106 (ii).] A differential gauge comprises a spring-supported container in which is sealing liquid located in a chamber subjected to one of the fluid pressures the other one of which acts on the inside of a fixed bell the lower end of which is sealed by the sealing liquid. The leading pipe 6 is connected to a chamber 5 in which moves a container 1 into the sealing liquid 2 in which dips the end of a fixed bell 9. The container 1 is suspended from a spring 4 located in an extension 12 of the chamber, by means of a rod 3. The upper part of the rod is formed as a bar magnet 13 having a dish-shaped pole-piece 14 which acts on an armature 17 outside part 12 and secured to a spindle 15 on which is an indicating needle 18. The rod 3 passes through a fixed disc 20 and is provided with collars 22 which seat against the disc when the rod is at the upper or lower positions of its travel, thus preventing spilling of sealing liquid on excessive pressure differences. The bell may be shaped on the inside to secure the desired linear law of flow.
