Abstract

Cod liver oil or other oil containing vitamin D is absorbed by malt, flour, biscuit meal, locust bean meal or other carrier of a porous nature and the product mixed with mineral matter such as ground calcium carbonate. In a specific example 5 per cent of cod liver oil is mixed with 9 per cent of malt flour and 19 per cent of bone flour is mixed in, 52.95 per cent of calcium carbonate, 1 per cent each of sulphur, charcoal, iron-sesquicarbonate and iron sulphate, 10 per cent of sodium chloride and .05 per cent of potassium iodide afterwards being mixed in. The material thus obtained is added in small quantities to ordinary cattle fodder.
