Abstract
A monohydrogen phosphate mixture is prepared by simultaneously neutralizing phosphoric acid with sodium hydroxide or carbonate, and magnesium oxide, hydroxide or carbonate. The acid may also simultaneously be neutralized with calcium oxide, hydroxide or carbonate. Common salt and trace elements, e.g. copper, manganese, iron, zinc and cobalt may also be added during neutralization. The very fine and the coarse fractions of the product are separated by screening and recycled to the next batch to be neutralized.ALSO:A mineral supplementary feed mixture having as the main constituent a monohydrogen phosphate mixture of the following composition expressed in mole per cent:-Disodium monohydrogen phosphate 60-25%. Magnesium monohydrogen phosphate 20-50%. Calcium monohydrogen phosphate 0-25%. Common salt in an amount of 5-15% and trace elements e.g. copper, manganese, iron, zinc and cobalt in an amount 0.5-2% may be present. Vitamins, animal food ingredients, a substance imparting taste e.g. molasses and/or bran may be added. The total P2O5 content should be 18-30% by weight and the weight ratio Ca : P should be between 0.0 : 1 and 0.4 : 1.
