Abstract

405,097. Curve-drawing instruments. FARQUHARSON, W. E., 35, Shrewsbury Road, Birkenhead, Cheshire. Dec. 21, 1932, No. 36158. [Class 97 (iii).] In a toy designing-machine, a table is rotatably mounted on a base and driven by a drum or disc and an oscillatory lever pivoted on the base intermediate its ends has at one end a holder for a marking device for tracing a design on paper on the rotary table and at the other end an aperture engaging an eccentrically mounted pin on the driving drum or on an auxiliary driven drum. In the form shown, the rotary table 4, on which paper may be fixed by studs 8, is driven by a rubber or other band 6, kept taut by an adjustable jockey pulley 7, from the drum 5. The lever 11, having slots 15, 15a, 15b and holes 16, 16a, 16b, is pivoted to a bracket 12 on the base 1 by a detachable pin 14. A pencil holder 19 is adjustably mounted in the slot 15b and the slot 15a is engaged by a pin formed by the crank handle 9 which may be inserted in one of a series of eccentric sockets in the drum 5. Alternatively the crank handle 9 may engage one of the holes 16 in the lever 11 and the pin 14 the slot 15a, the pencil carrier 19 then being mounted in the slot 15.
