405,093. Photographic roll-films. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT. - GES., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Dec. 8, 1932, Nos. 34820, 34821, and 34822. Convention dates, Dec. 8, 1931, May 6, 1932, and May 21, 1932. [Class 98 (i).] A device for protecting from access of light a photographic film wound upon a spool c comprises a casing b of flexible material, e.g. stiff paper or cardboard having a longitudinal slit e extending between its ends and lined with velvet &c. in which the spool flanges are embedded ; the casing being prevented from opening by end caps or rings a wholly or partly embracing the ends of the casing. As shown, the cap a is slotted at d to clear the slit e; alternatively the cap may be bulged to cover the slit. To facilitate breakage of the casing, for removal of the spool, the cap is notched at the part opposite the slit. The velvet &c. may be applied to a rectangular piece of paper, cardboard &c. which is then brought to tubular form and slid into the casing. To facilitate threading of the spool, the slit is aligned with the spool slot or other attachment means by the use of registering marks on the casing and spool core or flange. Specification 371,706 is referred to. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a flexible casing retained in shape by resilient rings f, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), or by means of clamps embracing the longitudinal edges of the slit. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
