Abstract
404,758. Powder boxes. LAUGHTON, G. A., Alexandra Works, Kent Street, Birming- ham. Sept. 7, 1932, No. 24889. [Class 18.] In a powder box of the type comprising an outer case a with a lid (not shown) which may carry a mirror on its inner face and an inner powder container c provided with its own hinged lid d, a spring flap e is secured, e.g. riveted, to the inner face of the lid d at one side and, when the lid is open, the flap stands away from that portion of the lid which is opposite the hinge but, as the lid is closed, the free part of the flap presses on the powder and prevents it being blown about by the snapping of the lid. The flap e may comprise two metal, &c. plates with a projecting disc g of flexible material, e.g. chamois leather or felt, clamped between them, the plates being secured together by tongues on the one which pass through slits in the other and are then turned over. Specification 354,340 is referred to. According to the Provisional Specification, the flap e may be entirely spaced away from the lid by resilient means.
