Abstract

404,526. Loom temples. TEFAG TEXTIL FINANZ AKT.-GES., Zurich, Switzerland.-(Assignees of Wuttig, E. ; 41, Schulstrasse, Chemnitz, Germany.) May 15, 1933, No. 14050. Convention date, May 23, 1932. [Class 142 (ii).] A gripper or clamp device having jaws n', n<11> respectively above and below the warp is reciprocated inwards and outwards and grips the fabric near the fell on its outward stroke so as to stretch it. The jaws n<1>, n<11> may be mounted on a rod b acted upon by a spring e and reciprocated by a cam i, the jaws being opened when moving inwards and closed when moving outwards. The gripper may be formed by two U-shaped members t<1>, t<11> which serve as guides for each other and are reciprocated by a lever r, each member comprising two bifurcated arms u<1>, u<2> acting alternately to stretch the fabric near the fell. The gripper jaws may have teeth p<1>, p<11> inclined outwardly as shown, and also in the direction of the take up, or the jaws may be ribbed or be provided with pawl-like gripping members. The jaws may be positively moved away from one another, or they may be merely resiliently held together, the teeth gripping only on the outward movement. The jaws may be pivoted at 6, Fig. 14, and be normally closed by springs 7, Figs. 14 and 16. Near the end of the outward and fabric stretching movement of the jaws, the lay beats up and the reed v engages the jaws rocking them about the pivot 6 so that they are opened by a wedge 5. The opened jaws now move inwards, the lay returns, and the springs 7 close the jaws. In another construction described, the one jaw is plain and the other is recessed to receive fabric-gripping rollers acting only when the jaws move outwardly.
