Abstract

404,258. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London.- (Assignees of Lavoie, S. D.) April 4, 1932, No. 9660. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 3, 1932]. [Class 40 (v).] In a push-pull amplifier, differences between the operating characteristics of the two valves 1, 2 are compensated by using a voltage derived from the output current of each valve to vary its amplification for different values of input potential. The signals are applied to the grids 7, 8 in phase opposition by a transformer 13, and each grid is individually biassed by batteries 16, 17, to balance the amplifier under no-load conditions in the region of small anode current, and by resistances 25, 26, through which the anode current flows, to superimpose an additional bias to equalise the plate currents when signals are being received. According to modifications, the compensating voltages are applied to the plates 3, 4 are algebraic parts of the total plate voltages, or to the screen grids, when such valves are used.
