Abstract
In a process for treating silicon steel sheets as described in the parent Specification, the annealing prior to the cold rolling is omitted. The sheets after hot rolling, pickling and cold rolling are annealed at 1925 DEG F., cooled slowly in the furnace to a maximum temperature of 1000 DEG F., removed therefrom, covered and then allowed to cool down to 500-250 DEG F. before exposure to the air. The annealing may comprise heating to less than 1600 DEG F. and then raising the temperature to 1925 DEG F. and an oxidizing or reducing atmosphere may be maintained in the furnace.
