Abstract
403,413. Tube or rod couplings. AMOR, G. W., Ben Trovato, Highdaun Drive, Pollard's Hill, South Norbury, London. May 20, 1932, No. 14332. [Class 99 (i).] In a tube or rod coupling of the kind in which a pin is formed longitudinally in two parts 1, 2 which are forced apart to grip the tubes into which the body of the pin is inserted, each part has a central enlarged portion 7, recessed at 9, cam surfaces 10 at the bottom of one or both recesses being engaged by cam surfaces on a member 13 which is rotated by a spindle 18. The parts 1, 2 are loosely connected by rivets 17, and are formed with overlapping portions 3, 4 to prevent the falling of dirt &c., when the coupling is applied to tubular scaffolding. In a modification a sleeve 24 Fig. 9 is connected to the pin 1, 2 by the actuating spindle 18, the sleeve having means such as a screw 27 for securing the device to one of the tubes 8 to be connected.
