Abstract
403,194. Swimming costumes. BUCK, R., 2, London Road, Manchester. Sept. 15, 1932, No. 25641. [Class 141.] Swimming and sun-bathing costumes, of the mutilated back type, are provided with draw tapes or straps, which enable the sides of the front parts to be drawn close to the wearer. In the form shown in Fig. 2, tapes 3, 4 are attached to the sides of the front and to the top of the knickers portion and pass through a ring 5, through which is threaded a shoulder tape 6 permanently attached at one end 7 to the top of the garment and at the other passing through a pair of grip rings 9 attached to the top of the garment. By pulling on an end 8 of the tape 6, the latter may be adjusted and the ring 5 thereby raised to pull the sides of the garment against the wearer's body. Various modifications are described employing a multiplicity of gripping rings, as shown, for example, in Fig. 6. In this case, pairs of grips 19, 20 are employed for the shoulder tapes, pairs 27, 28 for the side tapes, and pairs 23, 24 for back tapes, all the grips being carried by tabs from a central rear ring 18. Triangular loops, plates with slots, or equivalent means may replace the rear ring.
