Abstract
401,740. Thermionic valves. LASZLO, M. P. DE, 6, Stanhope Place, Hyde Park, London. May 20, 1932, No. 14349. [Class 39 (i).] A filamentary cathode is supported from a mica or other refractory insulating strip in an electrode framework by means of a metal strip 2, Fig. 4, bent to grip against the two faces and opposite edges of the mica strip 1 and having its ends brought together to form a lug 3 to which is secured, as by welding, a hook 4 for the filament. The strip 2 may be embossed or indented to engage the strip 1 and may be of nickel or iron. The hook 4 may bo of molybdenum, tungsten or tantalum bent to form a spring 5. The bends of an M -shaped filament 6, Fig. 1, are supported by hooks 4 and strips 2 from two mica strips 1, 1<1> with apertures receiving wire supports 10. Nickel clips 7, 71 have tabs 8 welded to the wires 10. The lugs 3 on the upper strips 2 may be arranged at the same edge or at opposite edges of the strip 1, the latter arrangement avoiding bending of the strip 1. An aperture in the strip 1 between the strips 2 facilitates final adjustment of the filament by means of a tool passed through the aperture. A single metal strip may carry the two lugs 3 and hooks 4 for the upper end of the filament. For supporting a single hairpin filament, the hook is carried by a wide metal strip with apertures for the admission of a tool.
