Abstract
The process described in the parent Specification, according to which a tyre cover is heated in a mould until consolidated, and if desired partly vulcanized, and is then submerged in heated water under pressure to complete the vulcanization, is modified by producing the tread and carcase portions separately, the carcase being partly vulcanized, and the tread either partly vulcanized or raw but shaped, bringing the parts together, and vulcanizing by naked immersion in hot water. The carcase may be formed on an air-bag or core and heated in a mould or in the open; the tread may be moulded as a whole, or formed of separate blocks pressed together. The parts may be united prior to vulcanization, by pressing them together, with or without treatment of their surfaces with a rubber solvent, or the use of an adhesive.
