Abstract
399,874. Photographing relief bodies. HEISE, W., 33, Elisabethenstrasse, Pasing, Munich, Germany. April 15, 1932, No. 10872. Convention date, April 20, 1931. [Classes 97 (i), 98 (i), and 98 (ii).] For the production of shading plates for map-making a relief A<1> is illuminated by parallel light obtained by a large condenser A<2> and is photographed by means of the rays returning through the condenser. The illumination may be obtained by a lantern B<1> and the relief body photographed by means of a mirror C<2> closely adjacent the projecting lens B<4>. Still better tone values can be obtained either (a) by first coating the relief with a sensitive layer which is exposed to parallel light and developed before reproduction ; or (b) by illuminating the relief through a diapositive of the relief body which can be proj ected by the lantern B<1>. Both methods can be used if desired.
