Abstract

<PICT:0399764/III/1> Pasty masses, solutions, or emulsions are dried and converted into powdered or granular form by spreading the liquid centrifugally over a rotating surface B, then dividing the surface radially into rays by means of blades E which direct the solution alternately upwardly and downwardly, the rays being united to form two films on the upper and lower surfaces c, c<1> of an outer ring rotating in fixed relation with the surface B. In a modification the films thus formed are again each divided in a similar fashion to form a double number of films and so repeatedly if required. The rotating discs may be heated and the slope of the surfaces C, C<1> adjusted to suit the liquid materials treated.
